Experiential learning invites students to actively participate in hands-on activities and apply knowledge in meaningful ways. It's the difference between reading about Archimedes' principle in a textbook and applying his formula to design a cardboard boat that you race across the Intracoastal Waterway.
Lifelong Leaders
An FSW student is one who shares a sense of social responsibility and cultivates an ethic of care for their community. What began as a service learning trip to Washington, D.C. transforms into a C-SPAN interview to advocate for global climate change legislation.

Lifelong Learners
Our newly opened Longleaf Center for Environmental Learning provides an additional 3 acres of green space and woodland trails for integrated lessons on plant and animal ecology, sustainable agriculture, air and water quality, and resource stewardship.
